PROPOSED TEMPORARY USE PERMIT POLICY

Amendment Bylaw No. 154, 2017 (Bylaw 154, 2017)
NOTICE is given that a Public Information Meeting regarding proposed Bylaw 154, 2017 is scheduled for:
Tuesday, September 12th, 2017
commencing at 6:00 pm
Wells Municipal Hall – Council Chamber
4243 Sanders Avenue, Wells, BC
The meeting is intended to provide information to the public about the proposed temporary use permit policy in advance of a public hearing scheduled for September 20th, 2017.
The intent of Bylaw No. 154, 2017 – formally referred to as “Wells Official Community Plan Designation Bylaw No. 106, 2010, Amendment Bylaw No. 154, 2017” – is to:
· enable the District of Wells to consider temporary use permits.
At the present time the District of Wells’ Official Community Plan (OCP) does not have any policies to support the establishment of temporary uses. Unless the District of Wells has a Temporary Use Permit policy in its Official Community Plan Council may not approve any proposals for temporary uses.
District of Wells Council on August 8th, 2017 gave first and second reading to Bylaw 154-2017. At the same meeting, pursuant to Section 475 of the Local Government Act (BC), Council directed staff to:
· Invite the public to review proposed Bylaw 154-2017 and provide written comments by posting public notices about the proposed bylaw at the District’s designated posting places (i.e. Wells Municipal Hall; Wells Legion; and Wells Post Office - Jack O Clubs General) as well as the Wells Public Library/Wells Community Hall; BNC Mercantile; Wellspring Newsletter; and on the District’s website; AND
· Refer a copy of the proposed bylaw to the Cariboo Regional District and the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure for review and comment.
