Welcome to the hidden gem of northern BC, Wells!

Located on BC highway 26, 74km east of Quesnel nestled in the mountains of the Cariboo, this is an eclectic community of art, history, and outdoor activities, filled with trails that lead through beautiful meadows. Wells has something to offer for everyone, from adventure seekers to history buffs.

Wells is home to a wide variety of activities for everyone all year round! This beautiful community is home to several hiking and ATV touring trails during spring and summer. Nearby there’s 116km chain of lakes that make up the Bowron Lake circuit, for canoeing and kayaking enthusiasts. Winter season boasts peaceful, beautiful snow blanketed landscapes and plenty of winter sport activities – including snowshoeing, snowmobiling, and cross-country skiing. Looking for more extreme winter thrills? Troll Mountain, just 20 minutes outside of Wells, is a great destination for snowboarders and skiers to get started or hone their skills further.

 Aside from outdoor activities, visitors can find a wealth of places to visit and experiences to satisfy their interests in art, history, and culture. Wells is host to one of the greatest festivals northern BC has to offer - ArtsWells! During the August long weekend artists of every kind gather here to take part in hundreds of events, including live musical performances, theatre, comedy, several varying workshops, and art displays.

Consider yourself a history buff? Visit the Wells museum to learn about the town’s humble beginnings that date back as far as the 1930’s. Also, the nearby historical town of Barkerville is a must see for those looking to experience an authentic taste the Cariboo’s second gold rush of the 1860’s.
